JACQUELINE BELL JOHNSON is an artist living and working in the inland empire. She holds a BFA from California College of the Arts, and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University. While known for her installation and sculpture, her art practice also includes drawing, printmaking, and photography. Her work explores the intersection of organic and architectural structures, by utilizing repetition of form and craft processes, with an undercurrent of feminism and the feminine experience. Exhibitions of note include Violet Hour at Bunny Gunner Gallery, Deflated/Defeated at Human Resources LA, Man Made at the Brand Library & Art Center, and Starburst at Cerritos College. Bell Johnson currently serves as adjunct faculty at both Crafton Hills College and Norco College, and writes for the publication Art and Cake.
These works were made during "stay at home" orders. They were made five minutes at a time -in between mom, house, and teaching duties. These works are five minute breaths, five minutes of silence, five minutes of grief, five minutes of anger, five minutes of forgetting, five minutes of focus.
